Charity Auction for The Christie

Monday 12th January 2015

The first annual Energize Charity Auction helped raise over £2,500 for our official charity partner, the Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Held at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel, the traditional Christmas party capped a fine 2014 for our staff and generated a substantial amount for charity in the process. Alongside the usual festivities, our inaugural Charity Auction and Raffle proved wildly popular and raised a total of £2,853 for a hugely vital and worthy cause.

The much-anticipated auction saw three remarkable pieces of football memorabilia on offer, including:

Football Auction
  • Framed Real Madrid ‘Ronaldo #7’ 2014/15 home shirt signed by Cristiano Ronaldo
  • Manchester United 2013/14 home shirt signed by 23 members of the squad, including Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney
  • Manchester United signed football with certificate of authenticity

With Managing Director Gavin Jones taking up the auctioneer’s gavel (and delivering some surprisingly adept patter), IT Consultant Chris Piercy quickly claimed the football with a winning £250, while Digital Lead Consultant Paul Jones-Evans secured the United jersey with a bid of £300.

But not to be outdone, Co-Founder Craig Molloy took home the coveted signed Ronaldo shirt with an enormous bid of £750.

A special thanks must go to the Kettle family for their wonderful donation of the signed and framed Ronaldo prize, as well as our Corporate and Social Responsibility Officer Claire D’Amelio, without whom the evening could not have taken place.

“We were thrilled to be chosen as Charity of The Year by Energize Recruitment and we are thoroughly enjoying working with them to raise vital funds for The Christie Charity,” said Mary McLaughlin, Corporate Fundraising Officer at the Christie.

“Led by Claire, it has been great to see all employees getting involved in various fundraising activities throughout the year, showing real enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference, needing no encouragement to come up with ideas and initiatives to raise as much money as possible.”

Energize would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the following businesses for their magnanimous prize donations to our raffle that helped make this initiative a rousing success.

Our thanks to:

The Christie; Gusto, Room, Albert Square Chop House, The Violet Hour, Red’s True BBQ and Browns restaurants; Malmaison Hotel; Bramhall and Cheadle Golf Clubs; Nuffield Health, Virgin Active and Pure Gyms; Debenhams, Armani and Tesco
